Gift Edition of “My Buttered Life” (review and giveaway – three winners!)

Do you prefer natural ingredients in your skin care products?

Do you prefer making your gifts, rather than purchasing them?

Then you want to read My Buttered Life – Gift Edition by Renee Harris from MadeOn Skin Care Products.

Inside this ebook you will find these Skin Care Recipes

  • Chocolate Body Mousse
  • Flavored Lip Balms
  • Chocolate Peppermint Lotion Bars
  • Scented and Shaped Lotion Bars
  • Beeswax Candles

These recipes are written with easy instructions and require only five ingredients or less: shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, and/or essential oils. A handy sheet shows you where you can find these ingredients. You will also find a cost analysis listed with each recipe, so you can see the savings.

What’s Inside?

Each recipe is well presented. The ingredients are listed along with their measurements and weights, and are clickable so you can go right to the product for purchasing (aren’t ebooks handy?).

The instructions are easy to understand, even my 7yo can follow them.

Renee includes what the purpose is of the recipe. For example the Chocolate Body Mousse “nourishes all skin types with a light chocolate scent using luxurious butters.”

Advantages for the Chocolate Peppermint Lotion Bar “the natural scent of the cocoa butter pleases the “scent, please!” crowd without the risk of skin irritation resulting from added chemicals and fragrances.”

Cost is clearly defined (wow, very easy on the budget!), and a link to a video to watch is something I’ve never seen offered in an ebook before! How handy is that?

I like how she includes troubleshooting tips. Here’s one for Scented and Shaped Lotion Bars: “Lotion won’t pop out? Place in freezer for 30 minutes and then pop out.” Great idea! Here’s another: “Too hard? Re-melt bars and add more coconut oil.” I love making mistakes that are easy to correct. Okay, I don’t love making mistakes ;) but when they are easily fixed – it’s easier for me to dive in.

Packaging ideas are another bonus Renee throws in. I love the idea of using ramekins as a mold, and then as a container to give the gift in!

How About Three Projects in One?

Did you know you can make:

2 beeswax candles
2-5 lotion bars
4 lip balms

using the DIY hard lotion kit? Included in the kit is your own copy of My Buttered Life – Gift Edition). Watch a video here.

Gift Sets

Renee has thought of everything!

And it’s no surprise. She has been making her own skin care products and lotion bars for years. I have used (and love) her Au Chocolate lotion bar (in fact, it’s almost time to order another one!).

So you can buy gift sets made to order. The 2 Pack Gift Pack contains a pocket-sized hand lotion bar (au chocolate or beesilk) and a lip balm. She goes the extra milk of packaging in a muslin tote bag – cute!

A 3 Pack Gift Pack is also available (shown).

What a lovely giveaway. I would love to know how to make the chocolate peppermint lotion bars. They sound good enough to eat. In fact, I’d probably have a hard time stopping my two-year-old from eating them.
