I am excited to share a review for another one of Kim Wilson’s books, Everyday Wholesome Eating.
The slogan on the inside of the book reads, “Discover the joy and simplicity of preparing whole natural foods for your optimal health.” Love it!
This book is well-laid out, with easy-to-read fonts, and spiral-bound (I love how spiral-bound books lay flat). There are two indexes in the back: one for recipes, one for information – very handy.
What it Has, What it Doesn’t
Featuring wholesome ingredients, Kim encourages you to eat in season with a handy list of in-season foods. Unrefined, unprocessed, whole, organic foods with minimal cooking required. Kim’s recipes don’t include wheat, corn, soy, or sugars (even natural ones, except fruit).
Kim bases her recipes around Six Simple Categories:
- Fruits
- Grains
- Nuts
- Vegetables
- Beans/Legumes
- Seeds
As a vegetarian, Kim’s recipes do not include animal products (meat or dairy). If you are looking for more meatless options and want to boost your raw food intake, this is the cookbook for you!
Everyday Wholesome Eating begins with Kim’s family’s personal journey. Kim then describes what wholesome eating means to her:
colorful foods- – not white
- fresh - not packaged
- living (raw) – not dead
- nutrient-rich - not nutritionally depleted
- variety - not redundant
- “GOOD (God’s Original Optimal Design)” food – not “SAD (Standard American Diet) food
Providing shopping tips, meal planning strategies, how to use wholesome recipes, ethnic ingredients and seasonings to use for variety, dinner categories, and “the basics” recipes.

I love Kim’s books!
Just wanted to say it, already have this one so I don’t need to win it
I love cookbooks, but there aren’t many that cook the real way, so this would be awesome!!!
Kim, I’m looking forward to your new book! I’m becoming more and more conscious of what I eat. Thanks for the work and energy you put into sharing the importance of eating good food!
I NEED this because I’m ‘in search of’ meatless dishes to add to our diets. My hubby’s job vanished with his company’s loss of a bid, so we’ve been working on starting our own business since April. We want to stick w/grass-fed as much as possible, but the last of the steak was eaten just a few days ago. It will be a while before we sink our teeth into another, I think. My husband has never been much of a meatless eater and therefore, I haven’t been much of a meatless cook. I hope I win this and I hope if I do, it can help us out in this area…Sure looks like it could!
