High-Protein Pancake Recipe
Mmmm, now who doesn’t love pancakes?
I used to only serve pancakes on Saturday mornings. Even though I made my own pancake batter, I still wasn’t thrilled about the lack of protein.
However, due to the large amount of eggs our chickens are producing, I have been looking for recipes calling for more eggs. So what a blessing that my good friend Miriam asked if I was interested in a high-protein pancake recipe. She got it from our mutual friend Ruth (thanks, Ruth!). I tweaked the recipe a little, adding 8 eggs instead of 4, doubling the flour, and omitting the vanilla extract. These are soooo yummy! My kids are happy they don’t have to eat scrambled eggs…again…and I am happy that we are still using eggs for breakfast. Read the full post here →

Sesame Honey Bites & Sesame Molasses Bites
Last week when I posted 5 Lies You’ve Been Told About Calcium, I shared a chart showing the amounts of calcium in foods. Sesame seeds topped the list! So when you eat these, ditch the calcium supplements that day – you won’t need them (hooray for eating food rather than supplements!).
I googled “sesame candy” and came across a recipe that I tweaked enough I can call it my own. I ended up with two recipes since I had both white and black sesame seeds on hand.
I teased those of you on Facebook earlier when I posted photos of the end result (sorry!) – so here are the recipes you have been waiting for! Read the full post here →
5 Lies You’ve Been Told About Calcium
It’s pretty common knowledge that calcium is an important mineral for bone growth and mineralization. We also need calcium to support nerve function, for healthy muscles, and to clot blood.
But when it comes to the best sources, the amount of calcium we need, and things we do that decrease calcium absorption, we are often left in the dark.
Or worse – lied to. Read the full post here →

Lea’s Applesauce Bake – perfect autumn treat!
We went apple picking and I had to bake a yummy treat! I was too lazy to slice all the apples for Apple Crisp (and I was out of oats!) so I decided to just food process everything and make a new treat.
