Organic Heirloom Cornmeal, Popcorn, and Whole Kernel corn from small-scale family farmers
I love their popcorn! Here is a press-release about their non-GMO corn products…
Tropical Traditions announced today that they were offering a new line of organic heirloom corn grown by small-scale family farmers in western Wisconsin. These organic heirloom corn products include Pride of the North cornmeal, whole kernel corn, and Lady Finger popcorn.
Organic Corn that is Truly GMO-free
Pride of the North organic heirloom corn and Lady Finger open pollinated organic popcorn is grown on small family farms with buffer zones, ensuring that the places where the corn is planted is not downwind from any other conventional corn fields that may be using genetically modified seeds. Watch the video below from one of the farms to see an example of how this certified organic corn is grown, and how they ensure proper buffer zones are in place to prevent cross contamination from other farms. The extra care they take is far beyond what is required by current USDA organic standards. Current organic standards do not require any special buffer zones for the growing of organic corn, therefore much of the supply of certified organic corn in the U.S. could possibly be contaminated by GMO cross pollination. Oxygen Bleach from Tropical Traditions – review and giveaway!
Ahhhh. All the wonderful products I’ve reviewed from Tropical Traditions and I have yet to be disappointed.
To begin with, I stopped buying bleach about eight years ago. After learning how toxic it is, I didn’t want it in my house.
Therefore, our whites are turning to greys…to the embarrassment of anyone in my house wearing something “white” – until now!
This week I have used Tropical Tradition’s Oxygen Bleach on whites, darks, and colors, and am happy to report I am pleased with the results of all three. Read the full post here →

The Difference Between Tropical Traditions’ Coconut Oils – Handy Reference Guide
From time to time I get asked, “what is the difference between Tropical Traditions’ coconut oils? What makes the Gold Label better than the Green Label? What about deodorization? Are they non-GMO?” This post will address these questions.
All Tropical Traditions coconut oils are superior to others out there, as the modern way of extracting coconut oil is by chemical extraction, and Tropical Traditions uses traditional processing methods without chemical solvents. All Tropical Traditions coconut oils are:
- not hydrogenated
- contain no trans fats
- non-GMO
- high in lauric acid
- shipped in glass jars – no BPA worries!

Atchara – Organic Fermented Raw Green Papaya – review and giveaway!
I have had my eye on atchara for a while now, and since I have been wanting to consume more fermented foods, I thought I’d give it a try. I’m glad I did!
As sauerkraut is to Germans and kimchi to Koreans, atchara is a traditional Philippine fermented dish made from unripe green papaya, fresh raw ginger root, and other raw ingredients in a vinegar base.
Fermented foods are full of enzymes and are a wonderful addition to any cooked foods as enzymes are destroyed by the heat used to cook foods.
Papaya is a great source of nutrition, and the natural fermentation process multiplies the nutrition. Using raw coconut water vinegar instead of white vinegar further adds to the nutritional properties of atchara. Read the full post here →

Citrus-Mint Skin Exfoliator (Tropical Traditions) – review and giveaway
I never cease to be beyond impressed with Tropical Traditions products.
Today I get to review for you their Citrus-Mint Skin Exfoliator – and you get a chance to win one.
Did you know most people produce more than 30,000 dead skin cells every minute? These dead skin cells can block pores and cause your skin to break out or become irritated. Simply washing your face isn’t enough to remove all the dead skin cells. A good exfoliator can help remove these dead skin cells and clear up your skin. Read the full post here →
