Amano Artisan Chocolate review - and giveaway!

It was a happy mail day when my Amano chocolate arrived! Poor me - I had to sample them all for you…

I can honestly say this is the best chocolate I’ve ever eaten. I am a huge fan of “one small piece of chocolate a day keeps the doctor away” - especially if it is dark chocolate!

Here I am unwrapping a bar…

Mmmmm….can you smell it?

Yum.

I can honestly say that was the most satisfying chocolate ever.

At first I was concerned the piece was too small. But after having one I can say - it’s perfect.

Why Amano?

If you’re a stickler for wholesome ingredients, you will be pleased with this chocolate: cocoa beans, pure cane sugar, cocoa butter, and whole vanilla beans.

No soy. No high fructose corn syrup. No additives, and no fillers.

Pure, rich, chocolate.

So what is the difference from one bar of dark chocolate to the other? You’d be surprised. Just like different coffee beans produce different aromas and flavors, different cocoa beans can produce different flavors as well.

I love that each bar has a wonderful, detailed description of the chocolate and a back story. Be sure to click on the link in my descriptions below to read more about where the chocolate came from and how it is processed.

Let’s check them out…

Ocumare

The cocoa beans that produce Ocumare chocolate comes from a remote valley in Venezuela. Learn more about Ocumar.

Flavor highlights: “plum and delicate floral” - I almost thought I tasted orange. This is my favorite bar :)

Guayas

The cocoa beans that produce Guayas chocolate comes from a secluded area of Ecuador, near the fertile Guayas river. Learn more about Guayas.

Cocoa beans are handroasted and release an aroma of “smoke, green banana and blackberry.”

Montanya

The cocoa beans that produce Montanya chocolate comes from mountains deep in Venezuela, brought out by horseback. Learn more about Montanya.

Cocoa beans have flavor notes of “apricot and marshmallow.” I actually thought this tasted a lot like white chocolate! Very unique.

Chuao

Chuao is the world’s most coveted chocolate. These beans are harvested, fermented, and sun-dried in front of a historic church in Chuao, Venezuela. Learn more about Chuao.

Flavors that come through: “plum, blueberry, blackberry, molasses, coffee, almonds.” It truly is amazing.

Cuyagua

Cuyagua’s cocoa beans are found in a secluded valley of Cuyagua, Venezuela. Learn more about Cuyagua .

These cocoa beans are gently roasted and slowly stone ground, producing a deliciously dark chocolate.

Morobe

Papua New Ginuea produces the fine cocoa beans Morobe’s chocolate is made from. Learn more about Morobe .

Tasting notes include “red grapefruit, lime, blackberry, smoke, and leather.”

Buy Some

You can purchase this luxurious artisan chocolate here: Amano Chocolate. This chocolate is so rich, one bar would last you two weeks (and one day) if you only had one square per day - and believe me this is totally possible. I love rich chocolate, and one square “fixes” me for a full day!
