Vintage Tradition Body Balm - review and giveaway (set of three!)!

This is as traditional as it gets, guys!

Vintage Tradition makes delicious-smelling (or unscented) body balm using just three ingredients: organic tallow, organic olive oil, and organic essential oils (unscented contains no essential oils).

The tallow used in Vintage Tradition Body Balm comes from 100% grass-fed organic cows; the olive oil is certified organic, extra virgin; and the essential oils are Young Living Therapeutic Grade, Organic.

I love that Vintage Tradition Body Balm comes in glass - not plastic. Did you know that even during production this body balm never is in contact with plastic or aluminum? Vintage Tradition Body Balm is only in contact with stainless steel or glass. I’m glad for that!

Want to know more? You can read the beginning of their story here: Our Story. And don’t miss the How to Make Tallow Balm at Home pictorial!

What is tallow, and why use it?

Tallow is oil that comes from animals. Gently rendered, tallow can come from sheep or cows. It was common for traditional people to use this not only in cooking, but also as a moisturizer for their skin (and hair).

Containing fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E and K, tallow promotes skin health. No man-made chemical moisturizers - tallow also contains CLA and is antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory.

When combined with olive oil, you have a moisturizing body balm that is not only soothing, but also high in antioxidants and anti-cancer compounds.

How does this Body Balm feel?

Ahhhh. When I rub it on my hands, my skin looks and feels so silky smooth - and not greasy at all. Now that the temperature is dropping, my heels are starting to dry out. Vintage Tradition Body Balm rubbed in my heels keeps them moisturized all day long. I’m hooked!

I also love applying a small amount to the ends of my hair. I simply place a small amount on the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, then run through my ends. Silky locks in seconds :)

Want to win a set?

Vintage Tradition is offering my readers a set of their three scented body balms. I am so glad, because I am having a hard time deciding which I prefer of the three!

The three scented body balms the winner will receive are:

Pretty Girly - pleasant, natural, floral scent. I am not a floral-scented gal, but I actually like this one. The essential oils used for this scent are: lavender, elemi, palmarosa, geranium, and celery seed.

Mild Manly - mild, fresh, masculine. I love this blend. The essential oils used for this scent are: cedarwood, ylang ylang, lavender, basil, and sandalwood.

Almost Unscented - very mild scent that doesn’t stick around long. The essential oils used for this scent are: cedarwood, lavender, and sandalwood.

Vintage Tradition Body Balm - review and giveaway (set of three!)! — 31 Comments

  1. I would like to win because I am always looking for more natural things for my face, hair, and body to replace things I normally use with unhealthy ingredients. My family and I have various skin problems and since we’ve been using all natural products I make myself, I notice we have less problems. The floral would work good for me because I like smelling pretty. :) My hubby is always after my natural concoctions so the masculine scented one would be a delight for him.

  2. I want to win because I love products of nature that are good for my body…and because it is super dry here in CO and I’d love something better for the dryness.

  3. i would love to win because right now with a suoer busy 18month old, 15 weeks prego and trying to get ready to move our entire farm……. i have no time to try and make my own =)

  4. I would love to win these! My family and I are beginning to phase out the commercial junk and switch to natural, organic, “real” products — whether in food or personal care, etc. We are learning a lot. For myself, I struggle with skin issues such as keratosis pilaris, and I am interested if these might help me at all! :)

  5. I would love to try this. I have tried just about everything but still get cracked, dry, bleeding skin every winter. If it works, I would be a customer for life
