Do you cringe when you look at the ingredients in personal care products? Or maybe you cringe at the price. Making your own sugar scrubs is really super simple - and it doesn’t have to break the bank!
Whether you want to make them for yourself, or give as gifts, Simple Scrubs to Make and Give is your go-to guide.
Why Scrubs?
If you’ve never used a scrub before, you may not know what all of the fuss is about.
You probably already guessed that is sloughs off dead skin cells and gives your skin a pleasant glow. You might have figured out it makes your skin smooth and moisturized.
But did you know that it improves circulation and reduces stress?
The first sugar scrub I used was years ago, and rubbing in in my palms was pure heaven! I loved how even when I rinsed the sugar off, the oils lingered and made my hands look awesome.
Ingredients
Actually, the ingredients are pretty simple: sugar, and an oil!
You can use salt, but sugar is easier on the skin and just feels so much better.
There are several oil options that Stacy lists, and it really all comes down to personal preference.
In case you’re looking for something more, you will also find “extra” ingredients suggested to make something special, such as herbs, essential oils, or even cocoa butter or vanilla extract. Stacy also lists where she purchases her ingredients and jars to make it easy for you to locate supplies.
Recipes
Gosh, there must be a couple of dozen recipes in Simple Scrubs. From a basic sugar scrub and basic salt scrub to Rustic Lavender Scrub, Chocolate Lover’s Scrub, Morning Coffee Body Scrub, Fresh Citrus Scrub and more….wow, does that not get your juices flowin’?
Better yet, you can use these recipes as a base to make your own creations with the essential oils you already have on hand.
Although most of the recipes are for the body, there are also tips for making your own facial scrubs, as well as example recipes: Honey-Almond, Herbal Oat, and Strawberries and Cream, to name a few.
I love that she also includes a Quick Reference Recipe Guide that is easily printed without photos.
Storage
Stacy is just so darn thorough - I love it! So of course you are going to be shown storage options. She wisely suggests plastic for jars that will be stored in the shower - otherwise glass it is. You will even find a link to a source for waterproof labels.
Also included is a tutorial on how to make your jars pretty by affixing your labels with modpodge, and using ribbons on the rim for a personal touch.
