The Bass technique of brushing your teeth and its effectiveness on teeth health

This is part seven in a continuing series of an interview I had with OraWellness.

Part One: Why is gum disease prevalent even though we brush regularly?
Part Two: Is it possible to remineralize our teeth? And a word on oil pulling…
Part Three: What causes bad breath, and how do I get rid of it?
Part Four: How important is diet when it comes to teeth health?
Part Five: What is the best way to heal receding gums?
Part Six: Is flossing harmful to the gums, or essential?

Today we discuss the Bass technique of brushing and its effectiveness.

Nourishing Treasures: How does the Bass technique differ from the method most Americans use to brush their teeth, and how is this method more effective?

Ora Wellness: I donʼt know how ʻmostʼ Americans brush their teeth at this point. I know that in the past I was confused about the ʻrightʼ way to brush. If you ask 10 people what is the right way to brush, youʼll get several different answers.

Nourishing Treasures: That is certainly true. Let me ask then, how is the Bass technique different?

Ora Wellness: The Bass brushing technique differs from common brushing techniques in that the Bass technique is focused on disrupting and disorganizing the pathogenic, or disease causing, bacteria found in the mouths of most people. We call these disease causing bacteria bad bugs because they are nasty and break down our health. :)

Since the focus of Bass brushing is not about reducing tooth decay, the technique is very different. Similar to other notable figures from history like Weston A Price, Max Gerson and Edward and May Mellanby, Dr. Charles C Bass created the Bass brushing technique to help recover from gum disease.

Nourishing Treasures: I’ll go ahead and embed this below…

Nourishing Treasures: So how effective is this method?

Ora Wellness: What I can say is the Bass brushing technique (with the Bass toothbrush) is very effective at disrupting and disorganizing the bad bugs implicated with gum disease. We have many customers who have reported back to us that their dentists have confirmed that they no longer show signs of gum disease after using our products.

Nourishing Treasures: I am certainly impressed. I used to change my toothbrush every two weeks. But I am really impressed at how long my Bass toothbrush is holding up! I’ve been using it for at least two months now and I am very pleased.

I hope you liked this article. This is the seventh of eight interview questions I asked Ora Wellness. Stay tuned next week when Ora Wellness answers the question, “What are your thoughts on the miswak, a natural toothbrush made from the root of the Peelu tree?”

Ora Wellness supplied me with their Brushing Blend and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s a blend of bad bacteria-bashing teeth-healthy essential oils (such as cloves, cinnamon, and myrrh) in a base of almond oil. I love that I don’t have a mouthful of lather – my kids love it, too! It’s a great breath freshener.

Ora Wellness has offered Nourishing Treasures readers a FREE Bass toothbrush with your order of OraWellness Brushing Blend. ONLY when you write “Nourishing Treasures free brush offer” in the customer note section during checkout.

*One free toothbrush per order, not per bottle of brushing blend.

    • Nope, that was me, and I am still using it :) I use the miswak in the car and when I’m at my laptop, but I use the Bass brush nightly with the Brushing Blend. I can see the pros to having both.
