Win a bag of coconut flour!

Have you tried Tropical Traditions coconut flour yet?

I first purchased this flour a few months back, but I wasn’t sure how to use it, so I simply started playing around.

I tried substituting the flour in my pancake recipe, but it’s really not the same as whole wheat flour, and they didn’t come out like I thought (too thick and dry).

Needless to say, I do recommend using recipes written just for coconut flour. Free Coconut Recipes has loads of recipes to choose from (including a couple of mine!). Cooking with Coconut Flour is right on amazon and is highly rated.

I did end up winging it with one recipe, my Blueberry Crisp, and it came out deliciously!

What makes this flour different?

For one thing, coconut flour has less carbs than white or whole wheat flours, and many times over more fiber. If you are diabetic, this would be your best choice for flour, if you choose to use it.

It’s also gluten free.

Due to the high fiber and high protein, foods you make with coconut flour will make you feel fuller longer (a way to prevent yourself from over-doing the sweets? hmmmm….)

Win a bag of coconut flour! — 26 Comments

  1. I want to win because I want to bake treats for me with it. I’ve noticed my knees hurt almost every time I eat something with gluten in it.

  2. I love the high-fiber aspect…plus the protein of the extra eggs i’ve heard you end up using. I have not tried coconut flour yet, but I really want to!

  3. I am gluten free and on GAPS right now and LOVE coconut flour. I am still experimenting how to bake with it so I need more to cover my many failures while learning to cook in a new way.

  4. I want to win because I go through coconut flour VERY quickly! I also found that when making pancakes with them, the pancakes were too dry UNTIL I found an incredibly fluffy pancake recipe. If I win, I might share it with you {wink wink}

    Just kidding! Here’s the link to that recipe. I think the addition of milk (I use coconut) makes them more light & fluffy. It’s also helpful if everything is at room temp (the milk and eggs, etc.)

  6. i’m trying to coconut my food and other health supplies more and more. I LOVE all I’ve gotten so far !!!! I have 2 kinds of oil and the soap - so this would be a great NEXT moment and it sounds delicious. Thanks for the encouragement !!!
