Whether you hand wash your Fido jars, or throw in them in your dishwasher, you want to avoid washing the wire. It just looks nicer to have the shiny wire on your jars
The first thing you want to do is remove the lid. To do that, open the jar so the lid is to the back, and grip one side with your thumb and the other with your fingers.
Press in on one side, and pull the looped part off the hook.
The other side comes right off.
Next, slide the flat ring off. Do not lose this piece! I always set mine inside the lid, and place the lid up on my open cabinet shelf so it doesn’t get bumped.
Now, pull the wire open and up and over the lip of the jar.
That’s it! Now you can wash your jar without tarnishing your wire
