This is part four in a continuing series of an interview I had with OraWellness.
Part One: Why is gum disease prevalent even though we brush regularly?
Part Two: Is it possible to remineralize our teeth? And a word on oil pulling…
Part Three: What causes bad breath, and how do I get rid of it?
Today we discuss the importance of diet when it comes to teeth health.
Nourishing Treasures: How important is diet when it comes to teeth health?
Ora Wellness: Oh, I love this question!
For us, diet ranks among the most important factors to either support or diminish our immunity. That bears repeating: what we choose to eat has a dramatic impact on our oral health. Aside from a healthy mental attitude (positive expectation/faith), diet is the most important influence on whether our attempts to optimize our oral health will be successful or not.
Nourishing Treasures: What are the top three best foods for teeth?
Ora Wellness: For us, the bottom line is mineral content and quality fats. Without sufficient minerals in our system, we have no chance of creating optimal health. And we need quality fats to be able to absorb sufficient minerals.
You see, the statement ʻwe are what we eatʼ isnʼt really accurate. We think ʻwe are what we absorb from what we eatʼ is more accurate. Given this intro, any foods that give us loads of minerals combined with quality fats are the best foods for us to increase the mineral levels in our systems.
Our top 3 picks are: bone stocks, fresh dairy products (raw cream and butter are essential), and organ meats. It goes without saying that these foods must come from healthy animals, living in healthy environments, eating their natural diets if we are going to have any chance of creating optimal health by consuming them.
Nourishing Treasures: “We are what we absorb” - I love that and it’s so true. It’s unfortunate that we can be eating nutrients and our bodies can’t even take them up if we don’t consume them with fat.
What foods would you suggest should be avoided for optimal teeth health?
Ora Wellness: We have to throw sugar under the bus first as sugar literally disrupts intercellular communication. More than sugar feeding the bad bugs in the mouth, sugar is a major contributor to creating disease. Watch ʻSugar, the Bitter Trushʼ by Robert Lustig to really grasp the significance of sugar.

I hope you liked this article. This is the fourth of several interview questions I asked Ora Wellness. Stay tuned next week when Ora Wellness answers the question, “What is the best way to heal receding gums?”
Ora Wellness supplied me with their Brushing Blend and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s a blend of bad bacteria-bashing teeth-healthy essential oils (such as cloves, cinnamon, and myrrh) in a base of almond oil. I love that I don’t have a mouthful of lather – my kids love it, too! It’s a great breath freshener.
Ora Wellness has offered Nourishing Treasures readers a FREE Bass toothbrush with your order of OraWellness Brushing Blend. ONLY when you write “Nourishing Treasures free brush offer” in the customer note section during checkout.
*One free toothbrush per order, not per bottle of brushing blend.

I want to thank you for running these articles! The last time I went to the dentist they wanted to do a very expensive procedure and also pull several teeth. I kinda like my teeth, so I ordered from Ora Wellness and I’m anxious to see if it helps. Without your articles I would not have known about them as even with a search online for natural remedies, I did not find them. Thanks again.
I am so glad you are enjoying these, Claudia! I appreciate your taking the time to leave a comment telling me so
