My Favorite Supplements (and where to get them!) — 6 Comments

  1. Hello!
Sounds fantastic, definitely going to research further. Is Seven+ safe for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding? Also, you mentioned how you don’t take vitamins…how do you feel on pre-natals? Thank you so much for your website, I absolutely love it. God bless!

    • I am not a doctor, but in my opinion, yes it is safe for pregnant and lactating women as well as children. My kids love it :)

My view on a multi-vitamin is it only covers the basics in low-doses, and often contains artificial colors and flavors, not to mention it’s not a natural source of vitamins and minerals (but is man-made). I’d rather get my baseline minerals covered by consuming a smoothie or eating a loaded salad for lunch.

That said, I have started taking a multivitamin (this one) until I can figure out exactly what I am consuming day to day (which I am now tracking via some software I will post about soon). I also give 1/2 dose of this to my children.

As for prenatals, it would really depend on your diet. Most Americans are better of taking a prenatal to be sure they are consuming enough, especially when morning sickness causes you to not feel like eating a whole lot. If you eat mostly whole foods you may be fine without it. The important thing is to be sure you’re having enough folic acid in the first 9 weeks.

I would recommend a whole food vitamin, then, such as MegaFood. They make their own supplements from scratch and use fresh produce sourced directly from farmers, rather than using powders or juices. They provide potencies like those found in natural whole foods. I recommend looking in to them! My favorite!

    • I agree with you tht megafoods is still a small family owned company who did not sell out to a mega corporation! This will almost ensure their quality! I do not trust New Chapter anymore. Yes, they kept tje same inGREEDYents, but is the quality for sure tjere? I do not and will not trust Procter and Gamble.

  3. I looked into New Chapter vitamins as you recommend but read they were just bought by Proctor & Gamble :( I’m still going to order the multi-vitamin for my kids as it sounds good. Do you also give your kids cod liver oil? I currently give mine Nordic Naturals Kids CLO.
