Elderberry Life - review and giveaway!

Elderberries are a superfood - no doubt about it. With flu season right around the corner, we want to beef up our immune system. Elderberry juices, jams, and cordials, are an easy way to make that happen.

Elderberry Life creations use elderberries that contain:

  • antioxidants
  • Vitamin C
  • calcium
  • magnesium
  • iron
  • potassium
  • Vitamin A
  • Vitamins B-6, thiamin, roboflavin, niacin, and folate
  • phosphorus
  • copper

Elderberries are a wonderful immune booster, are full of antioxidants, are anti-inflammatory, and contain anti-cancer compounds.

Of all the small fruits measured for the ORAC rating (ORAC = Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity), elderberry topped the list with a 147 rating. For comparison, strawberries were rated 36, raspberries 40, and blueberries 62.

When browsing Elderberry Life’s website, I came across an article here that mentions Hippocrates made the statement that the Elder tree was his medicine chest. Continue reading

eXfuze’s Seven+ PROformance - my new multivitamin?

I am sure this will come as a shock to some of you, but I don’t take a multivitamin.

There are too many supplements out there with questionable origins. Bad forms of vitamins that end up harming you in the long-run (selenium and magnesium stearate for example). Since I try to eat a varied, wholesome diet, I don’t want to rely on a synthetic multi with fillers, additives, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, titanium dioxide, etc. to take the place of my nourishing meals. I figure I’m better off just avoiding a multivitamin.

I do regularly take Antioxidant Omega-3 Greens (berry) since I know I don’t consume enough vegetables. And of course I take a spoonful of Green Pasture’s Butter Oil/Fermented Cod Liver Oil every day.

But what about those superfoods we don’t consume on a daily basis? I don’t know about you, but I just don’t have access to tropical superfoods here in cold New England.

I have seen Stephanie’s excited posts on Facebook talking about eXfuze Seven+ PROformance, and I finally had to ask her about it. Continue reading

Health Benefits of Chia Seeds - and a challenge

Did you know one tablespoon of chia seeds contains 2,375mg’s of omega-3′s? Chia seeds are the richest plant source of omega-3 fatty acids.

Chia seeds contain the highest known proportion of alpha linolenic acid (ALA) at over 60%. The omega-3 to omega-6 ratio is 3:1. They also contain 19-23% complete protein, providing all essential amino acids in appropriate balance.

Chia seeds are the superfood.

Unlike flax seed, another high source of omega-3′s, they don’t need to be ground before consuming. You can toss them on salads or in your yogurt, add to banana bread, or make a fruit pudding (recipes below).

Due to the strong antioxidant activity, the omega-3′s (DHA, EPA) are not easily oxidized like they are in flax seeds which don’t contain antioxidants.

Here is a breakdown of nutrients that you will find in one serving (2 TBSP) of chia seeds… Continue reading

Discover the superfood power of pomegranate

Foods that have an incredible array of health benefits that go well beyond just their nutrient value are considered ‘super-foods.’ Pomegranate is an ancient food that has symbolic meaning in many traditions and is mentioned throughout the Old Testament of the Bible and the Homeric Hymns of Ancient Greece. Science has shown that this ancient symbolic food is also extraordinarily beneficial for human health. Continue reading

The aloe vera miracle: A natural medicine for cancer, cholesterol, diabetes, inflammation, IBS, and other health conditions

I’m truly excited to be bringing you this information today about the miraculous healing abilities of aloe vera. First off, in case you don’t know, let me emphasize that I don’t sell aloe vera products of any kind, I haven’t been paid to write this article, and I don’t earn any commissions from the sale of any products mentioned here. I am, however, an enthusiastic supporter of natural medicine, and I personally grow and eat aloe vera plants in Tucson, Arizona.

In fact, my yard is an aloe farm, and each day before I make my superfood breakfast smoothie, I walk out to my yard, slice off an aloe vera leaf, thank the plant for granting me its healing medicine, then I fillet the leaf and drop the aloe vera gel into my blender. A few minutes later, I’m enjoying the most impressive medicinal herb that nature has ever created. (Click here to see the new PhotoTour showing step-by-step pictures of how to fillet aloe vera and remove the inner gel.)

When I say aloe vera is the most impressive medicinal herb invented by nature, I don’t make that statement lightly. Of all the herbs I’ve ever studied — and I’ve written thousands of articles on nutrition and disease prevention — aloe vera is the most impressive herb of them all. (Garlic would be a close second.) There is nothing on this planet that offers the amazing variety of healing benefits granted by aloe vera. In a single plant, aloe vera offers potent, natural medicine that:

• Halts the growth of cancer tumors.
• Lowers high cholesterol.
• Repairs “sludge blood” and reverses “sticky blood”.
• Boosts the oxygenation of your blood.
• Eases inflammation and soothes arthritis pain.
• Protects the body from oxidative stress.
• Prevents kidney stones and protects the body from oxalates in coffee and tea.
• Alkalizes the body, helping to balance overly acidic dietary habits.
• Cures ulcers, IBS, Crohn’s disease and other digestive disorders.
• Reduces high blood pressure natural, by treating the cause, not just the symptoms.
• Nourishes the body with minerals, vitamins, enzymes and glyconutrients.
• Accelerates healing from physical burns and radiation burns.
• Replaces dozens of first aid products, makes bandages and antibacterial sprays obsolete.
• Halts colon cancer, heals the intestines and lubricates the digestive tract.
• Ends constipation.
• Stabilizes blood sugar and reduces triglycerides in diabetics.
• Prevents and treats candida infections.
• Protects the kidneys from disease.
• Functions as nature’s own “sports drink” for electrolyte balance, making common sports drinks obsolete.
• Boosts cardiovascular performance and physical endurance.
• Speeds recovery from injury or physical exertion.
• Hydrates the skin, accelerates skin repair. Continue reading
