Antioxidant Omega-3 Greens - Berry or Mint - win one!

I am really excited to be giving away one of my favorite supplements - Tropical Traditions Antioxidant Omega-3 Greens.

I have tried both Mint and Berry (with and without licorice), and my favorite is the Berry. The winner will be able to choose their favorite flavor.

This is honestly the best “greens” supplements I’ve ever tasted. I have tried other brands, and just couldn’t finish them. Continue reading

Reasons to ditch your current supplemental juice for Seven+ PROformance

It has been several months since my first post about Seven+ PROformance. In my first post I shared that Seven+ PRO is not a juice. It’s a botanical supplement that fuzes together extracts from seven of the world’s most powerful superfoods.

It has come to my attention there are other bottles out there that are marketed as health supplements but are no more than over-priced juices. I want to warn you to check the ingredients carefully. Many of them may have a superfood listed, but generally they are mostly just juice in a fancy bottle… Continue reading

5 Lies You’ve Been Told About Calcium

It’s pretty common knowledge that calcium is an important mineral for bone growth and mineralization. We also need calcium to support nerve function, for healthy muscles, and to clot blood.

But when it comes to the best sources, the amount of calcium we need, and things we do that decrease calcium absorption, we are often left in the dark.

Or worse - lied to. Continue reading

eXfuze’s Seven+ PROformance - my new multivitamin?

I am sure this will come as a shock to some of you, but I don’t take a multivitamin.

There are too many supplements out there with questionable origins. Bad forms of vitamins that end up harming you in the long-run (selenium and magnesium stearate for example). Since I try to eat a varied, wholesome diet, I don’t want to rely on a synthetic multi with fillers, additives, preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, artificial colors, titanium dioxide, etc. to take the place of my nourishing meals. I figure I’m better off just avoiding a multivitamin.

I do regularly take Antioxidant Omega-3 Greens (berry) since I know I don’t consume enough vegetables. And of course I take a spoonful of Green Pasture’s Butter Oil/Fermented Cod Liver Oil every day.

But what about those superfoods we don’t consume on a daily basis? I don’t know about you, but I just don’t have access to tropical superfoods here in cold New England.

I have seen Stephanie’s excited posts on Facebook talking about eXfuze Seven+ PROformance, and I finally had to ask her about it. Continue reading

Vitamin B-12 Brand Comparison and Cost Analysis Guide

This is a follow-up to last month’s post Vitamin B-12 - Are You Deficient? + Food Sources where we learned:

  • how much B-12 you should consume daily
  • signs of Vitamin B-12 deficiency and what deficiency can lead to
  • how the Intrinsic Factor (IF) is essential to Vitamin B-12 absorption and what interferes with IF
  • what else can cause B-12 deficiency
  • what to do if you have low/poor IF
  • who is at risk for B-12 deficiency
  • what foods B-12 is found in
  • and, finally, a brief word on supplements

Today I am expanding on my previously brief word on supplements.

We have already learned there are different forms of Vitamin B-12 including the least desirable cyanocobalamin as well as the preferred methylcobalamin (adenosylcobalamin is also acceptable).

This guide will list for you what brands contain which form(s) of Vitamin B-12 so you can be a better shopper. I will also include any other vitamins that may be included, as well as the “other ingredients” listed on the label. I will calculate for you the cost per serving as well as the cost per 1000 mcg. Finally, you will find a Top 10 Most Economical list where you can choose budget-friendly B-12. Continue reading

Antioxidant Omega-3 “Berry” Greens - review and giveaway!

Do you eat enough vegetables?

If you’re like me and most other Americans, you probably don’t get 5-9 servings a day.

This is why I was interested in trying Tropical Traditions’ Antioxidant Omega-3 “Berry” Greens.

I had tried one other powdered greens brand a few years ago, and although I knew it was good for me, it was hard to get past the blast of “greens” that I was tasting. I never finished the bottle :(

Antioxidant Omega-3 “Berry” Greens to the rescue!

When I first tried it, the sweet berry flavor filled my mouth first, followed by a subtle greens taste that was quickly whisked away. It’s not a thick, goopy drink, but is as easy to drink as water.

My kids would rather not drink it straight like I can (it’s likely the green color). However, I found it very easy to “hide” Antioxidant Omega-3 “Berry” Greens in a smoothie. Continue reading
