Cod Liver Oil - Brands Containing Soy

Last week I posted my brand comparison of cod liver oil (CLO). In this comparison I listed three dozen types of liquid and softgel cod liver oils, and compared the cost per serving of each of them. I compared the cost of CLO to the more superior fermented cod liver oil (FCLO) and concluded the liquid FCLO is less expensive than all but two of the liquid brands. We also discovered there are brands of CLO with 0 IU’s of Vitamin D.

However, as I mentioned, quality was not taken into account in my cost analysis. Who uses synthetic vitamins? Natural? Which brands contain soy?

This post addresses which brands contain soy. But first, let’s take a quick peek into why we don’t want soy in our CLO.

I think most of us have figured out by now making a daily habit of consuming cod liver oil (CLO) is beneficial to our health, particularly now that cold and flu season is around the corner (Read: Benefits of Vitamin D - Why it’s essential to health + the best food sources). I have recently been doing some brand and price comparisons and wanted to share what I found with you.

Taco Bell beef faked? No more than the rest of the FDA-approved toxic food supply

The word spread like wildfire across the internet: An Alabama law firm had filed a class action lawsuit against Taco Bell in California, saying its meat fails to meet the definition of beef set forth by the U.S. government (and even that’s a pretty low hurdle, if you ask me). Coconut Oil for Alzheimer’s, and Foods to AVOID to Keep Your Mind Sharp

Thoughts on Combating Alzheimer’s with Coconut Oil

The damage done to your brain from the wrong foods and from unbalanced insulin and leptin levels actually begins decades before you show any of the telltale signs of Alzheimer’s. So it’s vitally important to make healthy decisions now, before you unwittingly do decades of damage to your brain and nerves that you may not be able to reverse.

If you undertake a coconut oil or MCTs therapy protocol, be sure to start slow with the oil, and always take it with food to minimize stomach discomfort. If it takes you a few weeks to work up to the four tablespoons of coconut oil required for a therapeutic dose, that’s normal. Not everyone can tolerate so much coconut oil in a single dose right from the start.

The coconut oil or MCTs should also be taken in the morning, as it takes a minimum of three hours for the oil to convert to ketones and reach your brain. Repeating the dose of four tablespoons of coconut oil twice a day may be beneficial for those already suffering from pre-Alzheimer’s or Alzheimer’s conditions. Continue reading
